Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you want to serve on the PISD Board of Trustees?
I want to serve on the PISD Board of Trustees because there is still important work to be done to ensure our students thrive. My focus is on enhancing the learning environment and supporting students in their academic and personal growth. This includes improving test scores, fostering good citizenship, and preparing students for real-world challenges, including those who aspire to attend college.
I am also dedicated to continuing progress on critical issues such as teacher compensation, ensuring that we are investing wisely in our educational resources, and collaborating with the city to build new schools that accommodate our growing community. My goal is to contribute to a forward-thinking approach that addresses these needs and supports our students, teachers, and community effectively.
What are your educational and work backgrounds?
I hold an associate of science degree with a focus on aeronautics and mathematics. After graduation, I joined my father-in-law’s business, where I worked for seventeen years. Following that, I transitioned to a role as operations manager with our main supplier, overseeing ten stores and handling responsibilities related to management, HR, and budgeting for another seventeen years.
Currently, I work as a Sales Representative, specializing in software and small business solutions. I have been in this role for over fourteen years, providing consultation and support to help businesses optimize their operations and technology.
What leadership qualities do you bring to the position?
I bring a commitment to advocating for students, even when it’s challenging or unpopular. My leadership is characterized by a strong ability to analyze situations, think creatively, and propose effective solutions. I am dedicated to finding innovative ways to address complex issues and drive positive change.
What do you see as the most pressing issue facing the district at this time and
how would you help?
Currently, the most pressing issue is improving student test scores and better equipping students with the tools they need to handle everyday life challenges. I would focus on enhancing support systems and resources to ensure that students are prepared for any path they choose, both academically and personally.
In your time served, in what area have you made the biggest contribution?
I have made significant contributions in improving teacher pay and addressing obstacles that impact the learning environment. This includes implementing measures to manage cell phone use in classrooms and advocating for changes to Title IX to better protect girls and their safe spaces.
